Dear Lagosians,

On the 17th January 2003, I was appointed Deputy Governor of our great State by His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to support him in implementing his vision of a transformed Lagos. Again in April 2003, you endorsed your belief in our candidacy by re-electing us on a joint ticket.Our re-election was evidence of your belief in the vision set out in the Lagos 10-point development agenda. It was a display of the level of trust reposed in us.

I would therefore like to seize the moment to thank you for the opportunity to serve. I am deeply touched by the personal support I have received from you which has contributed to my success as Deputy Governor.
Since my appointment, I have committed myself to the growth and development of our great State and given unbridled support to the successful implementation of the vision of our Governor for a better Lagos.

The present administration has recorded tremendous achievements and laid a solid foundation for future generations. It is that foundation I now seek and intend to build upon.

In April 2007, you will once again be called upon to exercise your constitutional right to elect a new Governor. As the Deputy Governor, I have been part of a leadership team that symbolizes the beginning of the future of Lagos and I am fully ready and able to take over the mantle of leadership. I offer myself for service and seek your mandate as the Governor of Lagos State, effective May 29th 2007.

I present myself to you at a time when the questions in your minds are of what the future has in store. Where lies the future for our children, our youth, our market women, our workers, our communities and our state?

I will proceed to answer your questions. We Lagosians must take our destiny in our own hands to elect a tested and proven leader. We must build on the foundations laid by the current administration rather than succumb to promises of new beginnings.

It is our destiny that together we shall touch and transform lives. Together we shall empower ourselves and create jobs, and more jobs. We shall together modernize our public transport system, making it comparable in efficiency to those in other world-cities; together we shall make Lagos, once again a clean, safe and beautiful city in which to live and work; together we shall create modern health facilities and strengthen our educational system; together we shall create new property-owning classes through the construction of affordable housing for Lagosians.

A new, even more inclusive orientation will be deployed, involving all of us working and succeeding together to create the Lagos of our dreams.

No one man can achieve this feat on his own. I call upon you to partner with me to realise our aspirations, in the conviction that together, the spirit of Lagos is indomitable.

My dear Lagosians, I humbly seek your endorsement and ask for your mandate to serve as your Governor from May 29th 2007. I invite you to join me in taking our destiny in our own hands by casting a vote for Destiny 2007.
